Prayers Needed

Cambodia is often overlooked in national news, but recently the fighting between Cambodia and Thailand has received greater attention. It’s being called a border conflict, but the destruction and bombing has now extended to strikes well within Cambodia.  

According to the latest news from the Penh Penh Post, there have been 17 civilian deaths, but up to 400,000 have been displaced from their homes.  The Cambodian Ministry of Education, as of the 15th of December, has stated that 1,039 schools, in six provinces, have been closed, affecting approximately 240,000 students and over 9,000 teachers.  As you can imagine, our hearts go out to the children and their families.

This isn’t the time to go into all the details, and events are changing everyday.  But it is certainly the time to pray — for the end of the fighting, for the safety of the children, for the restoration of peace.  We are scheduled to head back to Cambodia in three weeks now. Please pray with us that God’s work not be hindered and that His love be visible.
