Books Books Books!

There’s so much we could say about our most recent Cambodian trip, but it was the books that took center stage.  

If you remember, proceeds from Kirsten’s sales of Remember Me in America were used to buy books for classrooms in Cambodian schools — 50 books for each classroom. We were able to start this trip by delivering 350 books to Kingdom School in Battambang, along with a training session on how to use them in the classroom to meet individual student needs. It was a great start! But next trip we will be upping our game by delivering 1,750 books to the five schools of the Village Development Program — that’s 35 classrooms!

It has been a goal from the beginning to have Remember Me translated into Khmer, so we could give the book back to all those who appear in it. We were able to get the book translated through a Cambodian publisher and it only took three months! So this trip we were able to connect with many of our old friends and do just that. The video above shows how excited they were!

In the delivery process, we were able to pray and fellowship and give support once again. Some of the old ones have passed away, and so the book now serves as a keepsake for the family. But some we were able to serve in tangible ways, in one case even making the arrangements for cataract surgery.
